Hosting Providers

1. Rights

1.1. Hosts are not obliged to provide their Club Member guests with anything other than a bed to sleep in (or a lawn space for campervans/tenting), kitchen and toilet/shower. Hosts who wish to provide any other services such as meals, laundry, transport, tours, Internet, etc. are obviously free (and encouraged) to do so.

1.2. Hosts have the right to refuse or evict any Club Member without the need to give any explanation to either the Club Member or the HIT network.

1.3. Hosts are encouraged to provide feedback and suggestions to the HIT network, regarding any aspect of the network operation.

1.4. Hosts may be able to enjoy some of the benefits of the HIT Travel Club (see Introduction for details).

2. Requirements

2.1. Hosts agree to make accommodation available to Club Members, whenever possible, within their hosting/accommodation category.

2.2. Hosts are asked to give as much information as they feel comfortable with about themselves and their hosting arrangements for publication in the HIT travel directory. (Refer "HIT Hosting Providers Application Form".)

2.3. Hosts agree to ask for the Club Membership Card number of their guests at their initial contact and to check the Card's validity when their guests arrive. If the membership number appears on the discharged members' list then that club member should be refused accommodation (see Clause 3.2). Non-cardholders should be refused accommodation and be directed to the local HIT agent to obtain a Club Membership Card.

2.4. Hosts are encouraged not to direct Club Members to any private accommodation not registered in the HIT Travel Directory (This is for the security of our Club Members). If you have any family or friends who would like to host Club Members from time to time, please refer them to the HIT network.

2.5. Hosts agree not to talk to their Club Member guests on religious issues against their guest's will.

2.6. Hosts agree not to talk to their Club Member guests on the policies and operation of the HIT network, and not to speak on behalf of HIT to any person or communication network. Queries regarding policies and operation should be directed to HIT International.

2.7. Hosts agree to report to HIT International any offensive conduct by a Club Member so that the offender's Card Membership number can be passed on to other hosts throughout the network. (see Clause 3.2)

2.8. Hosts agree to record the name, membership number, length of stay and other details of each Club Member guest on the "Hosting Report Form" (this is for the hosts’ protection) and to send it to HIT International if asked to do so (HIT International will supply hosts with these forms).

2.9. Hosts agree to inform HIT International of any significant changes to their hosting arrangement.

2.10. Hosts agree not to contact any provider listed in the HIT travel directory outside the aims of the travel club. Promotion of any business, ideas, goals, beliefs etc. via the network is strictly prohibited without the written permission of HIT International.

2.11. Hosts agree to consult with HIT International if they wish to join any other hosting network in the future (this is to prevent any possibility of conflict of interest with the HIT network).

3. HIT International ("the network")

3.1. The network will look for ways to work with any individual or organisation that endorses the operation and activities of HIT International.

3.5. The network shall be exempt from liability, claims or responsibility for any theft, damage or other losses (consequential or otherwise) as a result of hosting Club Members.
